Our Leadership Team Understands Your Challenges

Each member of Barry’s leadership team has been in the telecommunications industry for decades. They’ve worked their way up through generations of technology, giving them technical knowledge and insights, and passing it along to the team and our customers.

Barry Gerhardt

President & Founder

Barry is a third-generation entrepreneur who began his career following in his grandfather’s footsteps as an engineer. His grandfather opened an electric contracting business and had a steadfast “Customer First” philosophy. Barry learned the ropes while working at his grandfather’s business, first as an Apprentice, then as a Journeyman Electrician, and then Master Electrician for a diverse range of commercial, industrial, and residential customers.

In 1982, with the pending breakup of AT&T Bell’s US monopoly, Barry recognized an opportunity to enter the shifting telecommunications market. That’s when he started Barry Communications.  Throughout his 40+ years of entrepreneurial success, Barry has led his family-owned company with a Customer First attitude, making it one of Barry Communication’s core values. As his business has grown, Barry continues to be an industry pioneer, continuing to leverage cutting-edge technology to drive innovative solutions for his customers. 

Barry Gerhardt and his wife Joni (Executive Vice President of Barry Communications) met in kindergarten are passionate about their business and family. He is very proud of his two daughters and six grandkids. Barry enjoys living a healthy life centered on gratitude, joy, Boston sports teams, and playing golf.
